They feature hollow, tapered stainless spokes and a highly polished hub, just like their stainless cousins, but with a ergonomically shaped solid laminated 1-1/4” (32mm) natural teak rim, sanded smooth, ready for the finish of your choice. The Classic Edson Destroyer® Wheel will add distinction and value to any boat. Available in sizes ranging from 18” (457mm) to 60” (1520mm), they feature an attractive dished shape and tapered hollow spokes. The “D” shaped rim is comfortable in your hands and the optional Leather Wheel Rim Cover will make those long hours at the helm less tiresome. Edson Destroyer Wheels are available with either a 1” straight hub or a tapered hub, both precision machined to ensure an exact fit to your steering shaft.

This wheel is a classic stainless wheel design that is as comfortable on the eyes as it is on the hands. The bi-spoke design gives it superior rigidity and robustness - ideal for offshore sailing. These wheels feature Edson’s ergonomic “D” shaped wheel rim for helmsman comfort and it is sized to feel right on hands that are both large and small. These wheels can be covered in Edson’s super- smooth orthopedic cowhide, in either tan or light gray colors. The Edson Clutched Bi-Spoke Destroyer Wheel offers the ability to disengage the wheel from the wheel shaft and steering mechanism while under autopilot. This greatly reduces the “Flywheel Effect,” which puts tremendous load on the autopilot. The Clutched Wheel features twin, tapered spokes for an elegant and attractive appearance. This spoke arrangement also adds a tremendous amount of fore and aft strength and rigidity to the wheel, making it an excellent choice for the offshore passagemaker.
