The Edson Clutched Bi-Spoke Destroyer Wheel offers the ability to disengage the wheel from the wheel shaft and steering mechanism while under autopilot. This greatly reduces the “Flywheel Effect,” which puts tremendous load on the autopilot. The Clutched Wheel features twin, tapered spokes for an elegant and attractive appearance. This spoke arrangement also adds a tremendous amount of fore and aft strength and rigidity to the wheel, making it an excellent choice for the offshore passagemaker. Custom faceplate engraving is also available to add a personalized touch.

Edson’s Polished Bronze Wheel with Teak Handles add distinction to any traditional boat. The bronze wheel body is delivered highly polished and with regular maintenance will retain its attractive gleam, or it can be left to age gracefully and take on a classic patina appearance. Available in sizes from 20” (508mm) to 30” (762mm) in diameter, the Bronze Wheel features varnished teak handles and a 1” straight shaft bore. The solid teak handles are held securely with stainless carriage bolts, which can be easily replaced if needed.

Our Tan Character Wheels are patterned after the traditional heavy cast iron wheels of yesteryear, only ours have been updated with modern materials and construction methods. Cast in marine-grade 356-T6 Aluminum and powder-coated tan, this up-to-date version is much lighter than the original, yet retains its strength and beauty for years to come. To ensure a precise fit to the wheel shaft, a machined stainless insert is pressed into the hub.

The Tan Character Wheel features Edson’s classic Teak handles and is available with a 1” straight bore. Available in sizes from 20” (508mm), 25” 635mm), 30” (762mm) and 35” (890mm).

Simplicity is the keynote for Edson’s Classic Bronze Wheel. The tumbled bronze body will age to an attractive patina over time, yet the wheel will maintain it’s strength and durability after years of use in a working environment. Six 5” teak handles are held securely in place with stainless carriage bolts and can be easily replaced. The overall diameter is 19” (483mm) and the hub is available in either a 1” straight or a 3/4” tapered bore. A true workhorse with the classic good looks of a thoroughbred.

Edson’s Stainless PowerWheel features a mirror-finish solid 316 stainless construction, classic three-spoke design and comfortable under-rim fingergrips. Available in 13” diameter with a tapered bore. (Shown with optional PowerKnob®).

Edson’s Almag PowerWheel is a timeless design that features the satin silver finish of anodized Almag, a marine-grade aluminum/magnesium alloy. This style is available in 13" and 18"" diameters with tapered or straight bore to fit most powerboat helms.

Edson’s Black Almag PowerWheel has the same features as the silver version, but is poweder-coated black in addition to the anodized Almag. Available in 13" and 18" diameters with tapered or straight bore to fit most powerboat helms.
